Join us for fierce, social Warhammer 40K battles!
The Ludlow Wargaming Society (LWS) is a community tabletop gaming club based in Ludlow, Shropshire. We focus primarily on Warhammer 40,000, while also enjoying painting, modelling, and exploring other wargaming systems. Founded by local hobbyists, our aim is to provide a welcoming space where players of all levels can meet weekly to enjoy games, share the hobby, and build the wargaming community in Ludlow and the surrounding area.
Our Aims
At LWS, we aim to:
- Provide a friendly, social space for wargamers in and around Ludlow
- Encourage and support all aspects of the hobby, from painting and modelling to gaming
- Explore a variety of systems while maintaining a strong focus on Warhammer 40K
- Help grow the local community by making the hobby more accessible and inviting
What We Do
We meet weekly, with a monthly hobby and painting night where members can share techniques, work on projects together, and enjoy the creative side of the hobby. Alongside our regular games of 40K, we also experiment with alternative rulesets — including the Poorhammer Podcast’s Horde Mode, which provided plenty of laughs (even if victory remained out of reach).
Beyond the Tabletop
Our enthusiasm for the hobby has taken us beyond Ludlow as well. One highlight was our trip to Warhammer World in Nottingham, where we spent the day gaming, exploring the exhibition halls, and dining at Bugman’s Bar. The day was capped off with Michael taking on their famous Hot Wing Challenge — a feat he described, with characteristic understatement, as “a piece of cake.”

Join Us
The Ludlow Wargaming Society is always open to new members, whether you are an experienced player, a returning hobbyist, or someone entirely new to wargaming. If you enjoy painting, gaming, or simply being part of a community that shares your interests, you will find a warm welcome here.
We meet weekly in Ludlow, and details of upcoming sessions are shared here on our website. We look forward to seeing new faces across the gaming table and continuing to grow the community together.
